Jerome Mullen became the Honorary Consul in 2008 at the time of growing Polish community in Northern Ireland and has devoted his time in the office to deepening the links between Poland and the Polish community here and Northern Ireland.

Mr Mullen has worked hard to help Polish nationals to integrate into the local community and foster cultural relations and exchanges between the Polish and Northern Irish communities. From the very beginning he took a strong interest in making Poles feel welcome and helping them where possible to have full access to all their rights. He has worked hard with local authorities, Polish organisations and schools to try to find ways of limiting the number of hate crimes and frequently assisted victims of accidents.

He has a wholehearted commitment to his tasks, working on a daily basis with the many complex issues that affect the Polish community, as well as deepening  the diplomatic relationship between Poland and Northern Ireland. He has also actively promoted business investment and tourism in Poland.

The Gold Cross of Merit was presented to Mr Jerome Mullen by the Consul General of the Republic of Poland in Edinburgh Mr Dariusz Adler on 20th November at the City Hall in Belfast during the celebration of the Polish Indipendent Day.
